How Do Discount Coupons Work in Aloha?

Discount coupons allow you to apply special discounts to reservations made exclusively from the Front-End (FE).

When creating a coupon, you can define different rules and conditions to control how and when it can be used.

Below is a clear explanation of each part:

Coupon Code

This is the identifier of the coupon.

It must be created manually by you (for example: SUMMER10, DISCOUNT25, etc.).

Type of Discount

You can choose how the discount will be applied:

• Fixed amount (e.g., 20 USD off)
• Percentage (e.g., 10% off)

Usage Limit

Here you define how many times the coupon can be used in total.

For example:

• 1 time: one-time coupon
• 10 times: can be used for 10 different reservations

Validity Type

This defines when the coupon is valid. There are two options:

A. Valid Until

Allows you to set a deadline.

After that date, the coupon will no longer be active.

Example:

If you select valid until December 31, the coupon will only work up to that day.

B. Valid Between

Allows you to define a specific date range in which the coupon will be valid based on the stay dates of the reservation — not the date the reservation is created.

Example 1 — Coupon is valid

The coupon is valid from December 1 to December 31.

Today is September 20.

You create a reservation from December 5 to December 10.

➡️ The coupon is valid because the stay is within the range.

Example 2 — Coupon is not valid

Same coupon valid from December 1 to December 31.

Today is September 20.

You create a reservation from January 1 to January 3.

➡️ The coupon is NOT valid because the stay falls outside the range.

Important Note About “Valid Between”

The system uses the check-in date to determine if the coupon applies.

Example:

Coupon valid from December 1 to December 31.

You create a reservation from December 26 to January 2.

➡️ The coupon is valid, because the check-in (December 26) falls within the valid range.
